Dr. Peter Kearney
Dr. Kearney grew up in West Van attending Westcot and Sentinel before going to UBC for biochemistry. He graduated with a DDS from the University of Toronto in 1979 and came back to Vancouver. Dr. Kearney and Dr. Katrin Turu started the West Van Dental Group together in 1983. As a ‘life long learner’, Dr. Kearney is a ‘dental nerd’ who wants the best for his patients.
Dr. Turu and Dr. Kearney have two adult children and in their spare time enjoy skiing, hiking and kayaking together. Dr. Kearney still plays hockey and tennis.
Dr. Katrin Turu
Dr. Turu graduated from the University of Toronto with Honours Bsc and DDS degrees, followed by a 1 year dental/hospital internship at Toronto Western Hospital. Fulfilling her dream to live in beautiful B.C., she moved to Vancouver and eventually, together with her husband Dr. Peter Kearney, founded West Van Dental Group. She spent many years as part-time clinical instructor at UBC dental school. She has been a member of the Vancouver and District Dental Society (continuing education) since 1980.
Drs. Turu and Kearney have two adult children. Dr. Turu’s other non-dental preoccupations include skiing, hiking and the general outdoor pursuits that beautiful B.C. has to offer.
Dr. Clive Jones
Dr. Clive Jones enjoys all aspects of general dentistry. Clive obtained his Honours BSc. at Dalhousie University and then proceeded to the University of Toronto for his DDS. After practising for nine years in Toronto he returned to the West Coast to practise at West Van Dental Group. Clive is long time member of both Vancouver and District Dental Society and the TEST Aesthetic Study Club.
Dr. Mark Spurr
Mark Spurr completed a B.Sc. Microbiology and a M.Sc. Molecular Biology from UBC, D.D.S. from University of Toronto. Has been in dental practice since 1983. General Dentist practice encompassing all aspects of dentistry including sedation, implants, major restorative, and wisdom teeth extraction dentistry. Away from the office Dr.Spurr enjoys with his wife Gail, world travel, road cycling, power boating, kayaking, hiking, and attending to their small acreage farm on Vancouver Island. Occasionally they are joined by their two adult children.
Dr. Daryoush Bakhshi
Dr. Bakhshi is well known with his patients for his genuine care and gentle touch and his kind manner with children. He enjoys getting to know patients and their families and providing dental care in a stress-free and relaxed environment. Dr. Bakhshi received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from University of Toronto. Upon graduation, he worked in Toronto, Trenton, and Brampton Ontario for a few years before moving to beautiful vancouver. He is always busy attending continuing education courses to gain advanced training in the treatment of patients with complex multi-disciplinary needs including wisdom teeth extraction, cosmetic dentistry, and implant dentistry.
When not working, Dr. Bakhshi enjoys spending time with family, and can be found enjoying bicycling, fishing, and watching movies.
Dr. Sepehr Zahedi
Dr. Sepehr Zahedi is a dentist with a Master’s degree in dental anesthesiology. He is a graduate of the Dental Anesthesiology program at the University of Toronto in 2012, a three-year post-graduate degree. Prior to this, he also attained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from University of Toronto. Dr. Zahedi maintains general anesthesia and sedation for dentistry facilities in lower mainland and is also an associate professor at the University of British Columbia in the field of pediatric sedation as well as local anesthesia and nitrous oxide. Dr. Zahedi grew up in Bearspaw, Alberta where he attended University of Calgary, William Aberhart High school, and F.E. Osborne Primary School.
Dr. Zahedi has tailored his practices to accommodate patients who are very dentally anxious, medically compromised, or developmentally delayed. In his spare time, Sep volunteers at the Vancouver downtown eastside dental clinic offering free dental care to the homeless and needy. He is an avid soccer player and fan.
Dr. Naz Bastani
Dr. Naz Bastani moved to Vancouver in 1995 with her family and grew up on the North Shore. She attended the University of British Columbia where she received her Bachelors in Science. After graduating, Dr. Naz Bastani moved to Los Angeles and attended the University of Southern California where she received her degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2012. Dr. Naz was on the Dean’s list for 4 consecutive years and finished within the top 5% of her class.
Due to her compassionate nature and love for the sciences, she enjoys her career in dentistry and does her best in educating and providing quality dental care to her patients. Dr. Naz enjoys treating patients of all ages. She is dedicated to the newest advancements in dentistry and keeps up-to-date with the latest technologies and procedures through her involvement in continuing education and various study clubs.
Dr. Naz is a part-time clinical instructor at UBC Faculty of Dentistry. She is also an active member of the Canadian Dental Association and the British Columbia Dental Association.
When not doing dentistry, Dr. Naz enjoys an active life in the outdoors of beautiful British Columbia through hiking and running. She is also currently mastering her skill in cooking cuisines from different cultures.
Vivian Montague RDH
Vivan completed her Diploma in Dental Hygiene at Camosun College in Victoria, BC. She joined West Van Dental Group in 1997 and has 20 years of clinical experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Throughout her youth she spent time playing competitive hockey, ringette and softball. In her spare time she enjoys training to run her next half marathon or improving her golf swing. Vivian resides in North Vancouver with her husband and two daughters.
Trafaun Tang RDH
Trafaun completed her Diploma in Dental Hygiene at the Canadian National Institute of Health in Ottawa Ontario, where she grew up. Previous to this she worked as a Dental Assistant for 3 years before returning back to school. She moved to Vancouver B.C. in 2011 where she continues to enjoy her career in the dental field. She enjoys hiking, running, and yoga, just some of the perks that drew her out West.
